PURPOSE OF THE CLASSIFICATION:
Responsible for performing a variety of unskilled, semiskilled, and skilled tasks, custodial duties, repair, maintenance, and renovation activities of Parks and Recreation facilities and grounds, and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
The Hatbox Field Maintenance Worker I reports directly to the Parks & Recreation Maintenance Leader I.
The Hatbox Field Maintenance Worker I does not have any direct reports or supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent. Previous custodial, and maintenance experience but not required.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills: Good knowledge of manual labor work practices, methods, tools and materials of varied general maintenance work; and good knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the work. Knowledge of maintaining, cleaning and preserving a variety of surfaces; proper use of a wide range of chemicals and handling and disposing of hazardous materials with care. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions; ability to use various types of tools and custodial equipment; and the ability to courteously and tactfully communicate with fellow workers, supervisors, other members of the organization, and the public in giving and receiving information.

While performing the duties of this job, arm and hand steadiness and finger dexterity will be needed enough to use a key board and telephone. Frequent walking, standing and sitting; frequent lifting and carrying objects weighing over sixty (60) pounds; frequent bending, handling, reaching, climbing, twisting, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive movements; occasional balancing, and crawling. Vision, speech and hearing, and feeling sufficient to perform essential tasks. Punctuality and reasonable attendance is essential. Must submit to drug screening and fitness to work physical exam.
Licenses and Certificates: Possession of a valid Oklahoma Class D driver’s license is required.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions. Will travel to other City locations as required. Exposure to wet, hot, cold and/or humid conditions. Requires ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and irregular hours.
Notice: This classification is a “safety sensitive” position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations, the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act and/or the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana laws. As a “safety sensitive” classification, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana license will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana.
