Nomic is hiring a Harness Engineer to strengthen our AI agents and retrieval infrastructure. You will design and optimize how agents find, assemble, and verify information across large document sets.

You will work on retrieval pipelines, context engineering, evaluation infrastructure, and scalable agent orchestration to support thousands of customer collections. Strong systems thinking required.

Qualifications

• Experience with Python and/or TypeScript.
• Hands-on with retrieval systems, embeddings, or traditional IR.
• Experience building real-world data systems with messy data.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize retrieval pipelines and chunking strategies.
• Build context engineering to assemble information for agents over large document sets.
• Develop evaluation infrastructure to measure agent accuracy and regressions.
• Create the orchestration layer between retrieval, models, and downstream actions.
