Sterling St James LLC in Chatsworth, CA is hiring an Assembly/Harnessing Technician to join the Manufacturing Assembly and Test team on first shift. The role reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor and is on-site in a collaborative environment.

Candidates should have a HS diploma, 5+ years in electrical assembly and soldering, experience in a regulated setting, and a J-STD solder certification (NASA certification preferred). Travel to customer sites may be required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in highly regulated manufacturing (Aerospace/Medical devices) required.
  • J-STD solder certification required; NASA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble high-reliability chassis and final assemblies using circuit cards and wire harnesses.
  • Perform high-reliability soldering and crimping on complex sub-assemblies.
  • Read from assembly drawings, worksheets, parts lists, and test specs.
  • Adhere to Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) procedures.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering to diagnose and rework complex models.
  • Work with engineering to improve testing procedures and worksheets.
  • Maintain cleanliness levels and traceability records for controlled programs.
  • Travel to customer facilities and service company hardware as needed.

Our SDG team in Chatsworth, CA is eagerly looking for an Assembly/Harnessing Technician to join their dynamic team. You will join the Manufacturing Assembly and Test team directly, reporting to our Manufacturing Supervisor and enjoy an on-site, collaborative working environment on first shift.

Skills and Certifications
  • J-STD Certification is REQUIRED
  • 5+ years of electrical assembly experience
  • 5+ years of soldering experience
  • Read/interpret engineering drawings/blueprints/schematics

As an Assembly/Harnessing Technician, you will add incredible value to the team by holding responsibility for:

  • Assemble high reliability chassis and final assemblies using circuit cards, stand offs, wire harnesses, solder and crimping, electrical and mechanical instruments.
  • Perform high reliability soldering and crimping operations on complex sub-assemblies, electronic, and mechanical assemblies, repair of circuit boards, jumper wires, and wire harnesses.
  • Decipher and work from assembly drawings, worksheets, parts lists, test specifications, and other instructions, both written and oral.
  • Know and follow applicable Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) procedures
  • Perform running harnessing and working with motion control pointing mechanisms as required.
  • Work in concert with Product Engineering in diagnosing and proposing the necessary rework on models that are intricate in structure and design.
  • Work closely with engineering to innovate testing procedures and suggest changes in worksheet processes.
  • Clean components to required cleanliness levels. Maintains traceability records, MDC forms and configuration records on controlled programs.
  • Work on repair units normally run with production units.
  • May be required to travel to customer facilities and service company hardware.

To be considered for this Assembly/Harnessing Technician role, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:

  • HS Diploma (or equivalent) is required. Additional training from a technical/vocational school always valued!
  • 5+ years of experience electrical assembly and soldering experience
  • Experience in a highly regulated manufacturing environment (e.g. Aerospace, Medical Devices/FDA etc.) required
  • J-STD solder certification required; NASA Certification preferred
