Hardware Validation Engineer – Power ICs & Board Bring-Up
Location: Milpitas, CA – 100% Onsite
Duration: 10-Month W-2 Contract with Potential for Extension or Conversion
Pay: $65–$75/hour DOE
Position Overview
A leading global technology and semiconductor company is seeking a hands‑on Hardware Validation Engineer to support the development and qualification of next‑generation hardware platforms.
This role will primarily focus on power IC component qualification, board bring‑up, and hardware failure analysis. The ideal candidate has strong hands‑on lab experience and is comfortable testing, characterizing, and troubleshooting components and board‑level hardware. Hardware design experience is a plus but is not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform qualification and electrical characterization of power components, including PMICs, DC‑DC converters, LDOs, voltage regulators, and related devices.
- Develop and execute component qualification and validation test plans.
- Support first‑board and prototype board bring‑up.
- Troubleshoot power rails, power sequencing, component behavior, interfaces, and board‑level electrical issues.
- Perform hardware failure analysis, root‑cause investigation, and component‑level debugging.
- Use oscilloscopes, DMMs, logic analyzers, power supplies, and other lab equipment for testing and troubleshooting.
- Document test procedures, qualification results, failures, and engineering findings.
- Collaborate with hardware, component, validation, firmware, and other engineering teams.
- Provide hardware design support, including schematic reviews, component selection, BOM updates, and design changes as needed.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
- Hands‑on experience with hardware validation, component qualification, board bring‑up, or electrical characterization.
- Experience with power management components such as PMICs, DC‑DC converters, LDOs, or voltage regulators.
- Experience with board‑level troubleshooting and hardware failure/root‑cause analysis.
- Ability to read and troubleshoot electrical schematics.
- Hands‑on experience with oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, logic analyzers, or similar lab equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with I2C, SPI, UART, SMBus, or GPIO.
- Power sequencing and power‑delivery validation experience.
- Python or other test automation experience.
- Schematic capture, PCB design, BOM/ECO, or component‑selection experience.
- Experience within semiconductor, data storage, computing hardware, consumer electronics, or a similar technology environment.
