Job summary

Black Diamond Networks is seeking a Hardware Test Engineer for a 6 Month + Contract in an on-site laboratory role supporting space-based equipment, including star trackers, radios, processing systems, and cameras.

Responsibilities span Functional Test, Test Automation, and Environmental Testing; candidates should have hands-on lab testing, PCB schematic reading, and scripting in Python or C#, with OpenTAP experience a plus.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience testing electronics, radios, processing systems, or cameras in a lab.
• Ability to read PCB schematics and work in a laboratory environment.
• Experience with Python or C# test automation; OpenTAP familiarity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Test low-voltage, low-current circuit boards and hardware assemblies.
• Read and interpret PCB schematics and hardware documentation.
• Write, execute, and document test procedures.
• Troubleshoot hardware issues and report test results.
• Develop and execute automated hardware tests using C# and/or Python.
• Configure and operate hardware test racks and instrumentation.
• Use OpenTAP to automate testing of radios and space hardware.
• Support test software development, debugging, and maintenance.
• Support EMI/EMC, thermal vacuum, thermal, shock, and vibration testing.
• Prepare functional test boards and equipment for environmental test campaigns.
• Execute environmental test procedures and document results.
• Investigate failures and collaborate with hardware and systems engineering teams.

Hardware Test Engineer

6 Month + Contract

Hardware Test Engineer – Space Environment - Hands-on onsite laboratory role supporting space-based equipment, including star trackers, radios, processing systems, and cameras.

*There are 3 areas of focus (Functional Test, Test Automation, and Environmental Testing – to have experience in all 3 areas would be most ideal, but should have experience in at least 2 of the 3.)

Functional Test

• Test low-voltage, low-current circuit boards and hardware assemblies.
