Job description

Summary

GrayMatter Robotics is a well-capitalized Physical AI company headquartered in Los Angeles, building Factory SuperIntelligence (FSI) through systems that learn, adapt, and develop genuine process intelligence across every part they touch. Our robots take on the tedious, hazardous, and ergonomically demanding work that has kept manufacturing dependent on a shrinking skilled workforce, delivering superhuman performance. Robotics has a demo problem. GMR doesn’t. Our systems are in active production today, adapting autonomously to real geometries, real materials, and real process variation without reprogramming. We deliver our system through a Robots-as-a-Service (RaaS) model that converts capital expenditure into an operating subscription, making Physical AI accessible to the manufacturers who need it most. We hire people who want to solve hard physical problems at an industrial scale.

We help manufacturers improve the quality of life for their workforce while increasing production capacity, and reducing scrap, repair, and rework costs. As a Hardware Technician, you will join our Hardware Team onsite in our Carson, CA office to help customers and employees with initial setup, training, and ongoing support for our products. You will own the collection of customer requirements & feedback, work with internal engineering teams to improve the product, and identify new opportunities within the customer account. You will be instrumental in supporting the customers we serve, empowering the incredible people who are the backbone of the economy.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Assemble hardware components and perform testing to ensure they meet design specifications.
  • Execute testing and experiments and record results.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to help document assembly processes and test procedures.
  • Conduct testing on PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) cabinets, ensuring they meet our high-quality standards.
  • Configure PLC assemblies according to project requirements, optimizing functionality and performance.
  • Perform upgrades on PLC systems, including electrical hardware enhancements to improve system efficiency and reliability, occasional field installations.
  • Work closely with a team of cross-functional engineers to ensure seamless integration of hardware components with overall system design.
  • Provide technical support for hardware-related issues, offering solutions to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Provide training and technical support to personnel on the use and troubleshooting of hardware.
  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of 3D printers used for prototyping and part production.
