Job summary

Navstar Inc. is seeking a highly experienced engineer with active TS/SCI clearance and Polygraph to support mission-focused IT programs. The role requires hands-on data center design, security accreditation work, and strong documentation skills for networks and servers.

Qualified candidates will have 10+ years (Senior) or 12+ years (Expert) in relevant programs, plus an engineering degree. The position offers a base salary between $150,000 and $240,000 annually, with a $10,000 hiring bonus and

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
• 3+ years interpreting technical drawings/blueprints.
• 2+ years documenting networks/servers.
• Experience establishing test cases for component troubleshooting (drives, memory, cables, etc.).
• Experience with electronics test equipment (fiber/copper test sets, OTDRs, multimeters).
• Direct/ hands-on data center design experience (rack and stack, power, placement).
• Experience with security accreditation/certification for network/server components.
• Proficient with Excel and/or Visio.
• Ability to lift 35 lbs regularly and travel for deployments.
• After-hours surge support when required.
• Senior: 10+ years in programs/contracts of similar scope; engineering degree; potential DoD substitutions; IAT II.
• Expert: 12+ years; engineering degree; IAT III.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• To be eligible for this position you must hold an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
• At least 3 years of work experience interpreting and working with technical drawings and blueprints.
• At least 2 years of experience maintaining network and server documentation and diagrams.
• Experience establishing and conducting test cases for troubleshooting components, including hard drives, memory, batteries, cables, motherboards, processors, etc.
• Experience with electronics test equipment (fiber and copper test sets, OTDRs, multi-meters, etc.)
• Direct, hands-on experience with data center design and configuration (rack and stack, power, placement, etc.).
• Direct work experience and/or in-depth related experience or training with network, server, and Data Center security accreditation and certification.
• Must have a high level of proficiency with Excel and/or Visio.
• Must be able to routinely lift 35 lbs. without assistance.
• Must be available to perform short-duration travel to support deployments.
• Must be available to provide after-hours surge support when needed to meet customer requirements.
• Requirements for one of the following skill levels:
• Senior: Ten (10) years’ experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required of which five (5) years shall be within the Federal Government. Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional network engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree. Certifications: An IAT level II baseline certification as defined by DoD 8570.01-M is required.
• Expert: Twelve (12) years’ experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional network engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree. Certifications: An IAT level III baseline certification as defined by DoD 8570.01-M is required.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional network engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
• Familiarity with server/router/firewall configuration and application performance optimization functions.
• Experience with network and server component moves.
• Experience documenting and providing information for security accreditation and certification.

Pay Rate:

In compliance with Maryland’s Equal Pay for Equal Work law, the annual base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $240,000. This range represents the base pay for this role and is provided in accordance with Maryland’s requirements to disclose compensation in job postings. Please note that actual compensation may vary based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate’s qualifications, experience, education, skills, internal equity, and market conditions. In addition to base salary, candidates hired into this position may be eligible for a hiring bonus of $10,000.00, subject to applicable contingencies and Navstar policy.
