Job summary

AMD is seeking a senior technical leader within the CAE team to drive design, integration and deployment of x86-based embedded solutions for networking and storage customers. You will act as a key interface between customers, field teams and R&D, providing architecture reviews, debug guidance and design-in support.

The role requires deep system-level expertise, hands-on debugging, and the ability to train staff and enable customers, with occasional international travel.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in hardware architecture and design across embedded platforms.
  • Hands-on debugging of HW issues on SoC/x86 platforms.
  • Familiarity with high‑speed signaling testing and validation.
  • Knowledge of DDR4/5, PCIe4/5 and Ethernet standards.
  • Proficiency in programming/scripting (C/C++, Python, Perl).

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to ODM/OEM customers on integrating AMD processors into networking and storage products.
  • Perform architecture and schematic reviews, design‑in support, and customer training on product features.
  • Analyze, debug, and root cause issues on AMD processor enabled platforms with cross‑functional teams.
  • Train field staff and customer engineers on product capabilities and troubleshooting. Occasional international travel may be required.

THE ROLE:

A senior technical leader within AMD's Customer Applications Engineering (CAE) team, driving the successful design, integration, and deployment of x86-based embedded solutions for networking and storage customers. This role combines deep system-level expertise with hands-on debug and architecture guidance, enabling OEM/ODM partners to bring high-performance, reliable products to market.

THE PERSON:

We are looking for an engineer who acts as a key interface between customers, field teams, and R&D leading root-cause analysis of complex platform issues across hardware and software boundaries, providing design reviews (architecture, schematic, SI/PI), and influencing solution quality and readiness. Delivers impactful customer enablement through technical guidance, training, and rapid issue resolution, while feeding critical insights back into product development to improve future AMD platforms.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide guidance to ODM/OEM customers on effectively integrating AMD processors into networking and storage products and custom designs.
  • Guidance consists of architecture reviews, schematic reviews, design-in support, and training customers on product features.
  • Analyze, debug, and root cause issues found with AMD processor enabled platform and work with appropriate development teams to provide a solution.
  • Train field sales and support staff in the features and uses of AMD products. Occasional international travel may be needed.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Expertise in hardware architecture, logic/circuit design and implementation.
  • Hands-on experience in design and debugging HW issues on SoC and x86 platform.
  • Experience with signal integrity and power delivery network.
  • Familiarity with High-speed circuit testing (oscilloscope and JBERT usage).
  • Experience with DDR4/5, LPDDR4/5, U/R/LR DIMM JEDEC standards, PCIe4/5, 1/2.5/10G Ethernet.
  • Familiarity with programming / scripting language (C/C++, Python, Perl, ...).
  • Familiarity with Server OSes (Linux, Windows Server).
  • Ability to communicate technical issues and solutions with the customer and internal teams.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
  • Bachelor or Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related.
