Google Sunnyvale is seeking a Hardware Systems Design Engineer for Platforms Infrastructure to design and bring up hardware systems for large-scale data centers, collaborating with ASIC/FPGA, software, verification, manufacturing and field teams. The role emphasizes on-site work and system-level integration to deliver high-performance hardware powering Google services.

Qualifications

Job description

Hardware Systems Design Engineer, Platforms Infrastructure

Location: Sunnyvale, CA, USA

This is a specialized role which requires physical interaction with hardware equipment in a simulated data center environment, utilizing Google labs, power, and safety equipment. Regular development and processing of engineering hardware must be performed on site.

Minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience working in a hardware design technical environment, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • Experience in electronics principles, circuit design, PCB design, and layout.
Preferred qualifications
  • Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience with enterprise-class hardware systems design and data center engineering, server, storage, and networking products.
  • Experience with FPGA/CPLD design and interfacing with other disciplines, including software, signal integrity, thermal, and mechanical.
  • Experience collecting and organizing details to reproduce results and explain the outcomes.
  • Experience solving system issues, technical innovation, and driving technical roadmaps.

As a part of the Board and System Design team, you will work on hardware systems projects to craft solutions for current and future data center deployments. You will work with product teams to ensure that customer goals are met with your systems, ASIC/FPGA, Software, and Verification teams to ensure proper verification of features in your systems, manufacturing teams to ensure that your designs are manufacturable and ready for volume production, and field teams to support systems that are deployed in the data center.

The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $132,000-$189,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
