Comrise is recruiting a Hardware Software Integration Engineer to ensure reliable integration of compute, sensor, and networking subsystems for an autonomous vehicle platform. You will lead triage and debugging across HW, FW, and SW and support bring-up for deployment in manufacturing operations.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience across electromechanical systems, strong debugging skills, and familiarity with automated test development.

Qualifications

Job description

Company is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Hardware Software Integration Engineer to ensure compute, sensor, networking, and other hardware subsystems integrate reliably with its autonomous vehicle platform.

In this role, you’ll support the deployment and bring-up of next-generation compute, sensor, and data networking systems while providing technical support for vehicle manufacturing and operations. You’ll serve as a first responder for complex hardware-software integration issues, driving debugging and root-cause analysis across hardware, firmware, and software systems.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on integration engineer with strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills and experience working across complex electromechanical systems. You’re comfortable debugging issues across hardware, firmware, and software boundaries, developing automated tests, and partnering cross-functionally to drive technical issues through resolution.

As a Hardware Software Integration Engineer, you'll:

• Lead the triage, debugging, and root-cause analysis of complex hardware, firmware, and software integration issues, partnering cross-functionally to drive issues through resolution.
• Support the bring-up and deployment of compute, sensor, and data networking systems across autonomous vehicle platforms and manufacturing operations.
• Develop test plans, specifications, and automated testing solutions to support vehicle assembly, system validation, manufacturing operations, and improved test coverage.
• Leverage internal analysis and debugging tools to evaluate system behavior, improve test infrastructure, and provide feedback that informs future product iterations.
• Develop and improve technical processes and workflows that increase fleet stability, system reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Travel within the Bay Area as needed to support operations.

Bonus Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of requirements management tools such as Polarion/JIRA.
• Strong EE fundamentals with familiarity in microcontroller-based systems, high-speed signals, sensing, power electronics, BT/LTE/NFC.
• Working knowledge of schematic design, PCB layout, and electrical characterization equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc.).

Daily tasks

• Company's Hardware Software Integration team is responsible for ensuring various hardware subsystems work reliably on our vehicle platform on a day-to-day basis.
• You will oversee the deployment of next-generation compute, sensor, and data networking systems for autonomous vehicles.
• This role is essential and fundamental to the execution stage of company's vehicle program, ensuring that hardware systems operate predictably at all times.
• You will also be responsible for supporting bring-up and manufacturing operations for the vehicle.
• You will have excellent communication skills and are excited about being the first responder to triage and debug difficult hardware-software integration issues.

Required skills

In this role, you will:

• Lead and drive debugging of hardware-software issues to closure.
• Identify and work with key cross-functional partners to root cause and provide resolution.
• Provide feedback to engineering teams to improve future product versions.
• Understand the vehicle assembly and test requirements and come up with test plans and specifications to support manufacturing operations.
• Develop test automation, leverage in-house analysis tools to perform debugging and improve test coverage, and enhance test infrastructure.
• Develop new processes and human workflows to improve fleet stability.

Qualifications:

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields with a minimum of 2+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience and skill in determining the root cause of complex issues involving HW, FW, and SW.
• Experience with hardware interfaces such as Ethernet, CAN, USB, UART, LIN. I2C, SPI, etc and related testing/debugging tools.
• Familiarity with requirements and test case development.
• Fluency in Python or similar scripting language, git/version management tools, SW debugging tools.
