Job summary

Sliters Lumber & Building Supply seeks a Hardware Sales and Stocking Associate to warmly greet customers and provide prompt, friendly service while stocking and merchandising hardware products. You will build product and inventory knowledge to help guide customers in-store and assist with general project needs.

The role includes assisting at the point of sale, keeping the store clean and organized, and supporting signage and merchandising efforts.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Acknowledge customers and inquire about their project or problem and provide a solution.
• Cashiering and selling by accurately completing sales and returns in the POS system.
• Assist customers by assembling orders and helping with bagging and carrying merchandise.
• Share information about sale and promotional items with customers.
• Direct customers to the proper pickup area in the yard.
• Communicate professionally in person and by phone.
• Stock and inventory merchandise to keep the store organized and clean at all times.
• Assist with in-store signage of merchandise, such as price tagging.
• Clean merchandise and store areas (vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, waxing floors).
• Assist with grounds maintenance, excluding power equipment as noted.
• Watch for theft and adhere to store policies and promotions.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned (e.g., making keys, mixing paint).

As a Hardware Sales and Stocking Associate, your primary responsibility is identifying and greeting customers to provide prompt, friendly and courteous service. You will have responsibility for stocking the hardware store, ensuring product is clean and well merchandised. You will grow your product and inventory knowledge to help direct customers to product in store and assist customers with general project needs promoting high levels of customer satisfaction, including assisting customers at point of sale in the store and greenhouse.

This position requires standing and walking throughout the day and includes occasional heavy lifting (often 100 lbs) with intermittent outdoor activities. May occasionally load merchandise into customer vehicles.

Our operations are open 6 or 7 days per week, depending upon location. Schedule may require weekend and evening hours.
