Job summary

Jobtailor in San Jose, CA, seeks an experienced hardware operations professional to manage inventory, shipping, and supplier coordination. You will track on-hand, incoming, allocated, and shipped items at the contract manufacturer, maintain records, and coordinate domestic logistics with carriers.

Responsibilities include following up with manufacturers and internal teams, organizing parts and finished goods, and flagging issues early while adapting to a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in hardware operations, supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, or a similar hands-on role.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow instructions, track multiple items, and consistently close the loop.
• Familiarity with BOM/CBOM or willingness to learn quickly.

Responsibilities

• Track inventory at the local contract manufacturer, including on-hand, incoming, allocated, and shipped items.
• Keep inventory records and shipment tracking information accurate and current.
• Support USA domestic logistics by preparing shipments, coordinating with carriers, tracking deliveries, and resolving shipping issues.
• Follow up with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and internal teams on open operational items.
• Organize hardware, spare parts, packaging materials, and finished goods.
• Flag inventory discrepancies, shipment delays, and other issues early.
• Support day-to-day hardware operational tasks as priorities change.
• Maintain clear records of current operational status.
• Coordinate rework activities at the contract manufacturer as needed.
• Coordinate with China-based suppliers when required.
• Prepare, place, and track purchase orders under guidance.
• Support spare parts planning, inventory allocation, international shipments, production builds, material readiness, build tracking, and issue resolution.

• Support USA domestic logistics by preparing shipments, coordinating with carriers, tracking deliveries, and resolving shipping issues
• Follow up with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and internal teams on open operational items

• Support day-to-day hardware operational tasks as priorities change
• Maintain clear records of current operational status
• Potentially coordinate rework activities at the contract manufacturer
• Potentially support China-based supplier communication
• Potentially prepare, place, and track purchase orders under guidance
• Potentially support spare parts planning, inventory allocation, international shipments, production builds, material readiness, build tracking, and manufacturing/quality issue resolution

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in hardware operations, supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, inventory management, or another hands-on operational role
• Strong organization and attention to detail
• Ability to follow instructions, track multiple open items, and reliably close the loop
• Ability to understand changed information or requirements and update records and actions accordingly
• Comfortable asking questions when something is unclear
• Comfortable handling physical parts, packaging, assemblies, and finished hardware
• Basic familiarity with Bill of Materials (BOM) and cost BOM (CBOM), or willingness to learn quickly
• Comfortable working in a fast-changing environment with shifting priorities
• Willingness to take on ad-hoc tasks
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to be onsite in San Jose, CA at least 2 times per week
• Nice to have: contract manufacturing or manufacturing environment experience
• Nice to have: overseas suppliers or China-based manufacturing exposure
• Nice to have: inventory, ERP, purchasing, or logistics systems experience
• Nice to have: consumer electronics or hardware startup experience
• Nice to have: Mandarin language skills
