Job summary

Unified Door & Hardware Group (UDHG) is seeking a Hardware Installer to support shop operations by preparing hollow metal and wood doors and installing hardware for field deployment.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of experience, can read shop drawings, and safely uses woodworking and metalworking tools. You will collaborate with the team and uphold OSHA safety standards.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years minimum experience in commercial door and hardware installation
  • Solid knowledge of commercial doors (wood and hollow metal) and their hardware
  • Proficient in using woodworking and metalworking tools and machines
  • Ability to interpret technical documents such as hardware schedules and templates
  • Dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to quality work
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of ANSI/BHMA standards
  • Experience with fire-rated door labeling or door/frame fabrication

Responsibilities

  • Door Preparation & Hardware Installation: Accurately machine doors for commercial hardware and interpret hardware schedules
  • Read and interpret shop drawings, templates, and hardware schedules to ensure precise installation
  • Tool & Equipment Operation: Use woodworking and metalworking tools safely and perform routine maintenance
  • Teamwork: Collaborate with team members and work independently as needed
  • Safety: Maintain a clean, safe warehouse environment and follow OSHA requirements; use proper lifting techniques
  • Physical Requirements: Frequent use of hands/arms and lifting up to ~100 pounds; teamwork as needed
  • Miscellaneous: Support company values and perform other duties as assigned

Position Overview

At Unified Door & Hardware Group (UDHG), the Hardware Installer plays a key role in delivering high-quality, precision-prepped door systems that meet the demands of both field teams and customers. Specializing in Hollow Metal Doors & Frames and Architectural Wood Doors, this position supports our shop operations by ensuring all door hardware is properly installed, aligned, and prepared for field deployment. Responsibilities and Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  • Door Preparation & Hardware Installation
    • Accurately machine wood and hollow metal doors for commercial hardware, including hinges, locks, latches, closers, vision kits, and other components
    • Read and interpret shop drawings, templates, and hardware schedules to ensure precise installation
  • Tool & Equipment Operation
    • Use woodworking and metalworking tools and machines safely and accurately
    • Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Teamwork
    • Collaborate effectively with team members while also working independently as needed
  • Safety
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment
    • Follow all safety protocols and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements to maintain a safe working environment
    • Use proper lifting techniques
    • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, safety shoes and clothing
  • Physical Requirements
    • Frequent use of hands and arms for equipment operation, grasping and manipulation
    • Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying building materials weighing approximately 100 pounds, using proper lifting procedures; and occasionally pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying greater weights. Pushing and pulling carts loaded carts over various distances and surfaces. Some functions may be performed as a team
  • Additional physical requirements may be needed as duties are assigned
