The Strategic Defense Solution (SDS) team in Binghamton, NY is seeking a highly motivated candidate for the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Manager position. This individual will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for the design, development, integration, and support of mechanical and electrical systems across our product portfolio for Department of Defense programs. Collaboration & Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management to support new products, equipment upgrades, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Translate technical requirements into actionable plans understood across disciplines.

Operational Execution & Project Management
  • Manage resource allocation, schedules, and priorities across multiple engineering projects.
  • Own engineering execution ensuring deliverables/scope meet cost, performance, and timeline objectives, with direct involvement in project planning, Earned Value Management (EVM), and risk management activities.
  • Apply structured project management methods to maintain transparency and predictable outcomes.
Decision Making & Problem Solving
  • Lead root-causing analysis efforts to resolve complex equipment or product issues.
  • Use data-driven decision-making to evaluate trade-offs and select optimal solutions.
  • Escalate risks proactively and recommend mitigation strategies.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve engineering processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Promote creativity, experimentation, and modern engineering techniques.
  • Contribute to long-term technology roadmaps and equipment strategies.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience.
  • Strong background in mechanical and/or electrical system design.
  • Previous experience in leading technical teams and managing cross-functional projects.
