Job summary

Google’s Platforms Infrastructure Engineering team designs and builds the hardware and software technologies powering all services. You’ll help shape systems from concept through high-volume manufacturing, impacting millions of users in Google data centers.

As a hardware engineer, you’ll participate in complex challenges, work with customers and internal teams, and drive improvements across fleet analysis and triage to speed resolutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering field and equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 6 years of hardware quality experience in data centers or IT environments.
  • At least 3 years of technical leadership experience.
  • Experience with data center and enterprise hardware (servers, storage, networking, AI systems), design processes and verification methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with customers, data center teams and manufacturing teams to understand and analyze hardware quality issues.
  • Partner with internal hardware and software teams and external vendors to triage and root cause hardware reliability issues.
  • Lead systemic changes to drive continuous improvement in fleet analysis and triage of hardware issues to get to improve speed to resolution.
  • Represent the Fleet Hardware Reliability team within the broader platforms design, deployment and supply chain organizations.

Job description

Preferred qualifications:
  • PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience presenting to executive leadership.
  • Experience working with the cross functional engineering teams, supply chain team, and the Data Center team.
