Hardware Engineer Prin.

We have a great opportunity for a Hardware Engineer Prin. to join our team in the Defense Solutions Group.

CW is seeking an experienced Hardware Engineer Prin. who will plan, lead, and design complex electrical boards, such as single board computers (SBC), FPGA, switches, and Input/Output cards in 3U and 6U VPX form-factors. Expertise in electronic parts, components, integrated circuitry, mechanical systems, equipment and packaging, and/or DSP systems is required to resolve complex issues during design, testing, and production.

Your Challenge
  1. Collaborate with engineering, project management, test engineering, and operations teams in high-intensity, schedule-driven environments to meet customer needs and missions.
  2. Plan, lead, and design 3U and 6U VPX SBC, FPGA, switch, and I/O cards up to 100 GHz data rates.
  3. Support business development, product line managers, and customers by reviewing needs and generating system and functional requirements.
  4. Assess feasibility from technical and economic perspectives; act as team or project lead.
  5. Provide leadership to engineering teams and implement industry practices to improve product performance, reliability, and time-to-market.
  6. Conduct tests to establish standards for new designs or modifications.
  7. Develop and maintain technical procedures, documentation, and manuals.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; master’s preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in DoD embedded systems hardware design; 10+ years preferred.
  • Experience designing high-speed digital, analog, and mixed-signal high-reliability systems, including HDI PCB design with dense multilayer structures.
  • Proficiency with Siemens Expedition DX Designer and PCB tools.
  • Ability to prioritize, work under pressure, and drive results.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills for complex design projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; excellent communication skills.
  • US Citizenship required; active DoD Security Clearance preferred.
