Job summary

Knobelsdorff (KE) in Minnesota offers an internship for students in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. Qualifications

  • Pursuing an education in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline.
  • Ability to work in Eagan, MN location 5 days/week.
  • Report progress daily to leadership team to ensure tasks are completed on time.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and multitasking.
  • Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Willing to work on some out-of-town projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing industrial automation hardware schematics meeting customer requirements.
  • Create hardware layouts, wiring drawings, and bills of materials.
  • Collaborate with software, controls, manufacturing, and panel shop teams for project execution and handoff.
  • Develop and execute hardware documentation and quality verification before production release.
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues during development, manufacturing, and startup phases.
  • Ensure designs comply with industry standards including UL508A.

Job Description

You’ll be part of a team that gets things done, works with purpose, and takes pride in the results. Your day‑to‑day responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting in designing industrial automation hardware schematics that meet customer requirements.
  • Create hardware layouts, wiring drawings, and bills of materials.
  • Collaborate with software, controls, manufacturing, and panel shop teams to ensure successful project execution and production handoff.
  • Develop and execute hardware documentation and quality verification processes prior to production release.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware‑related issues during development, manufacturing, and startup phases.
  • Ensure hardware designs comply with applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements, including UL508A standards.
  • Support the implementation of industrial networking and communication systems.
  • Support occasional startup and commissioning activities at customer sites.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Pay Range

We believe in paying for the value you bring to the team, and we aim to be competitive in every market we hire in.

Pay Range: $20 - $25/hour
