Job summary

Arbor Neuroscience is seeking a hardware-focused engineer to ensure the necessary hardware for neuroscience research. You will collaborate with scientists, describe hardware needs, and guide the development of Forest 1, balancing internal builds with external partnerships.

The role spans mechanical, electrical, and bioengineering domains, with duties expanding as you gain experience, including making systems portable and robust for home or clinic use.

Qualifications

• Depth in at least one of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or bioengineering.
• A track record of building physical instruments or hardware for research.
• Credibility to work with an external engineering team and ensure outcomes meet requirements.
• Familiarity with CAD and basic board design.

Responsibilities

• Work with scientists to understand needs and translate into hardware requirements.
• Own Forest 1 development: evaluate current device, define next version, coordinate with engineering partner.
• Design, build, and validate hardware for a platform combining bidirectional electrophysiology and ultrasound in animals.
