Eaton’s PCS Group Advanced Technology Team in Moon Township, PA, is seeking a Hardware Electronics Engineer to lead embedded hardware architecture for power electronics-based circuit protection products. This onsite role offers a hybrid schedule (3 days on site, 2 remote) with relocation available within the US and sponsorship.

You will drive top-level architectures, conduct circuit simulations, coordinate PCBA layouts, verify with tests, and participate in design reviews.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience developing embedded hardware for electronic devices.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Define top level electrical architectures and reusable embedded platforms.
  • Lead embedded hardware design for solid state/power electronics circuits.
  • Conduct circuit simulations and verify operation under boundary conditions.
  • Develop technical requirements with marketing and applications teams.
  • Coordinate PCBA layout with dedicated personnel and certifications.
  • Create designs compliant with applicable agency regulations.
  • Plan detailed work at the individual level with a robust schedule.
  • Lead design reviews and participate in innovation activities.

Eaton’s PCS Group (Protection, Controls and Solutions) Advanced Technology Team is looking for a Hardware Electronics Engineer to join our fast-paced team of engineers in developing cutting edge technology for our next generation products. This position will be located onsite in Moon Township, PA, and is eligible for a hybrid work model (3 onsite/2 remote). Relocation is offered within the US only. Sponsorship is also available!As a specialist, the primary function is to lead the embedded hardware architecture, electrical design and development of embedded electronics for power electronics based circuit protection products. This includes creating functionality related to embedded processing, hardware drivers, protection, power supply, metering, communication, and user interface.We are seeking a result-oriented, innovative problem-solver to lead the architecture, design and development of embedded electronics used as the controls for our next generation circuit protection products for both AC and DC applications. As an engineering specialist, you will work within the Advanced Technology Team to lead the development and design of core protection and controls devices and their capabilities to support technological advancements and major trends in circuit protection. As part of a cross-functional team of dedicated engineers, you’ll experience the excitement of bringing new products to life from design concept through to full customer prototype.In this role you will:Define top level electrical architectures and help identify key re-usable embedded platforms in alignment with key new product platforms identified by product roadmaps, industry trends and key VOCLead the electrical embedded hardware portion of designs for solid state/power electronic based circuit breakersConduct circuit simulation to verify correct operation as well as to test boundary conditionsDevelop product technical requirements by working together with marketing and application teamsCoordinate PCBA layout designs together with dedicated PCBA personnel in accordance with industry standards and required product certifications and specificationsSpecify and conduct testing at the PCBA as well as complete component/system levelCreate electrical designs in accordance with practices necessary to comply with agency regulationsPlan work in detail at individual level as well as a technical lead; creating a robust and trackable plans(schedule), coordinated with the larger development team, including requirements definition, detailed designs, test plans and issue trackingConduct formal quality and design reviews for both individual and team related workContinuing technical career growth and development related to electrical design and other pertinent areas of expertisePerform and contribute to technical research and investigationsCollaborate with teams from ERL, Electrical Sector Center of Excellence, and external technology resources (National Labs and Universities) for technology and product innovationFollow Eaton phase-gate new product development processActively participate in and help drive innovation events aimed at initiating novel solutions to technical challengesGenerates value added intellectual propertyBasic Qualifications:Minimum 10 years’ experience developing embedded hardware for electronic devicesBS in Electrical Engineering (or relevant related degree) from an accredited institutionRelocation benefit is being offered for this position only to candidates within the USPreferred Qualifications:Master’s degree in Electrical EngineeringStrong written and verbal communication skillsDesign For Six Sigma certificationTechnical Skills:Experience developing circuit schematics and conducting electronic simulationExperience working with oscilloscopes and power supplies to verify circuit performanceExperience writing/developing firmware for real time embedded systemsExperience designing embedded systems for circuit protection applicationsAt Eaton, we strive to provide compensation and benefits that attract, engage, and retain the best talent.
