Job summary

Acara Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Hardware Designer 2 to support design and development of mechanical components and system layouts for advanced semiconductor equipment.

You will create 3D CAD models, release manufacturing documentation, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive product development. The role requires 3+ years in mechanical design, Siemens NX proficiency, and experience with machined, sheet metal, or cast components.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of mechanical design and hardware development experience.
• 3+ years using Siemens NX for 3D modeling and drafting.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and subassemblies for advanced equipment platforms.
• Create and release engineering drawings and BOMs using ECM processes.
• Develop and maintain 3D CAD models, layouts, and large assembly structures.
• Design electrical and pneumatic harness routing within CAD environments.
• Create production‑ready drawings for machined, sheet metal, cast, and fabricated components.
• Conduct design reviews and support product development activities.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on performance and cost reduction.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, field service, and program management teams throughout the product lifecycle.

• Support manufacturing and product development through documentation and engineering release activities.

Job Requirements

What You'll Bring:

• Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree, Technical Certification, or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, product development, hardware design, or related engineering support roles.
• 3+ years of experience using Siemens NX for 3D modeling, drafting, and assembly design.

What Sets You Apart:

• Experience creating engineering drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation.
• Experience developing mechanical assemblies and supporting full product design cycles.
• Experience working with machined components, sheet metal fabrications, or cast components.
• Knowledge of engineering drawing interpretation and drafting standards.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Advanced proficiency with Siemens NX CAD software.
• Experience creating electrical and pneumatic harness routing within CAD environments.
• Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles and ASME drafting standards.
• Understanding of welding symbols, surface finish requirements, and manufacturing specifications.
• Experience managing large and complex CAD assemblies.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and other mechanical CAD tools.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and product design methodologies.
• Experience working within semiconductor equipment, manufacturing, or high‑tech product development environments.
• Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional engineering teams.
