Hardware Design Engineer in Annapolis Junction, MD.

Salary Range: $165,000-$220,000, depending on experience.

About the Role:

The Hardware Design Engineer designs and tests new integrated circuits and hardware components for signal processing applications. They develop code (including firmware) for digital signal processors or other programmable hardware such as ASICs and FPGAs. They analyze existing hardware for reverse engineering and modify vendor hardware to meet government needs.

What You Will Do:

This role focuses on PCB design and layout, reverse engineering of integrated circuits, and security analysis of FPGA and ASIC devices. Experience with microelectronics and design tools like Cadence, Synopsis, Altera Quartus, or Xilinx Vivado is required. Desirable skills include physical partitioning of FPGA fabric and security-focused design or analysis.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience evaluating FPGA or ASIC technologies for customer recommendations
  • At least 7 years in IC or microelectronic component design or reverse engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; 5 years of experience can substitute for the degree, totaling 12 years of experience
