Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions (ACS) in Nashua, NH, is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer to join the High Speed Products Group. You will work with a team of signal integrity and design engineers on next-generation high-speed backplane interconnects and connectors.

You will design, simulate, and characterize high-speed interconnects, support customers, and help drive product break-in strategies across accounts while applying circuit theory to PCB layouts and high-speed data transmission

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Physics
  • Hands-on characterization of components including test and calibration methods
  • Experience with signal integrity measurements and debugging with TDR, VNA, pattern generators
  • Understanding of electro-magnetic principles
  • MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering or Physics
  • 2+ years of industry experience
  • Experience in component design and application of high-speed interconnects into communications systems
  • Experience with signal integrity and simulation/analysis tools such as ANSYS HFSS and Designer, CST Microwave Studio, HSPICE, MATLAB, and ADS

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on multi-disciplinary team developing next-gen backplane interconnects
  • Design, simulate, characterize high-speed connectors and cable interconnect
  • Assist customers across sectors with high-speed data transmission needs
  • Support Sales Engineers to develop product break-in strategies
  • Identify and resolve signal integrity in PCB layout
  • Apply circuit theory and high-speed transmission principles to PCB layouts

Position: Hardware Design Engineer
Location: Nashua, NH

Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. We have design, sales, and manufacturing locations globally and are currently seeking a Hardware Design Engineer to join our team located in Nashua, NH. The Hardware Design Engineer would be part of an established team of dedicated signal integrity engineers and engineers of other disciplines who are responsible for both component development as well as customer support on new product introduction.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborating on a multi-disciplinary team in the development of next generation high speed backplane interconnect products
  • Design, simulation, characterization, and application of high-speed electrical connectors and cable-based interconnect
  • Assist with providing solutions to customers across a wide range of sectors with their high-speed data transmission requirements
  • Support the internal Sales Engineers to develop strategies for product break-in at existing and new accounts based on signal integrity and electrical engineering expertise
  • Identify and resolve signal Integrity issues in PCB layout, and directing layout
  • Application of Circuit theory and high-speed digital transmission, PCB layout principles for high-speed digital design
Required Qualifications
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Physics
  • Hands-on experience with frequency-domain and time-domain component and circuit characterization including understanding of test and calibration methods
  • Experience with signal integrity measurements and debugging with TDR, VNA, pattern generators, error detectors and similar measurement equipment
  • Understanding of electro-magnetic principles
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering or Physics
  • 2+ years of industry experience
  • Experience in component design and application of high-speed interconnects into communications systems
  • Experience with signal integrity and simulation/analysis tools such as ANSYS HFSS and Designer, CST Microwave Studio, HSPICE, MATLAB, and ADS
