Job summary

IPS Group in Michigan seeks a senior hardware engineer to design and develop electronic boards using microprocessors and microcontrollers. You will select components, create schematics, and collaborate with customers on PCB size and placement.

You will perform high-speed layout, signal and power integrity analyses, review Gerber files, and coordinate with fabrication and test teams to bring up, test, and validate hardware across certifications and field use cases.

Qualifications

• Requires a 4-year degree in electrical/electronics and a minimum of 8 years of related experience; or 5 years and an advanced degree; or equivalent work experience.
• Supports certification activities for FCC, IC, CE across multiple countries and debugging during testing.
• Lab hardware testing experience expected.
• Address field-testing issues and verify hardware use cases.

Responsibilities

• Design electronics boards and select components, creating schematics and collaborating with customers on component placement and PCB size.
• Perform layout design for high-speed interfaces, conduct signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal analyses, and review Gerber files.
• Coordinate with fabrication, assembly, and integration teams; bring-up, functional, EDVT, thermal, and performance testing.

Job description

• Experience designing boards with microprocessors (like iMX8, iMX9) and microcontrollers (ESP32, STM32) is essential.
• Good understanding of display interfaces: MIPI DSI, Parallel Bus, LVDS, HDMI
• Schematics, Layouts – use of tools Altium, Cadence
• Troubleshooting hardware boards
• Good understanding of Lab tests EMI/EMC
• Good understanding of certifications and regulatory requirements (UL/FCC)
• Electronics Design & Development, select components and design schematics, collaborate with customer on component placement and PCB size.
• Do layout design and high-speed interface guidelines, perform signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal analysis, and review Gerber files. Testing
• Design sensor boards (Motion, Light, Accelerometer, Temperature, Gyroscope, Magnetometer, calibrate sensors) and integrate with HMI Module. Protocol experience in SPI, I2C, Serial, UART, USB, DSI, CSI
• Coordinate with fabrication, assembly, and integration teams; conduct bring-up, functional, EDVT, thermal, and performance testing.
