Job summary

Amazon seeks an Applied Scientist II to push hardware-aware ML for Trainium and Inferentia. You will own model and algorithm decisions from research through production, publish at top venues, and work alongside distinguished engineers and scientists in a strategic AWS growth area.

We actively work on low-precision training and inference, Trn4 datatype exploration, and system-aware optimizers. Develop production-quality PyTorch or JAX code and mentor others, shaping the technical roadmap.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master's degree with 4+ years in CS/CE/ML or related field.
• Experience with state-of-the-art DL models and training/optimization.
• Proficiency in Java, C++, Python or related languages.

Responsibilities

• Own scientific problems end-to-end—from research to production impact.
• Develop production-quality code in PyTorch or JAX and integrate components into large-scale systems.
• Collaborate with foundation-model, engineering, and hardware teams to influence Trainium and product stack.
• Mentor scientists and interns and contribute to the technical roadmap.
• Publish research at top venues (ICLR, NeurIPS, ICML, MLSys).
