Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Hardware and Circuit Board Design Lead for a defense, aerospace, and advanced technology client in Rancho Bernardo, San Diego.

This engineer will provide technical leadership in complex electrical architectures, Command and Data Handling systems, and mixed-signal/high-speed digital electronics across satellites, space systems, high-energy lasers, sensors, and space communications.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive engineering experience in hardware design.
• Experience leading electrical architectures, C&DH systems, and mixed-signal/high-speed digital electronics.
• Familiarity with DoD technical review processes (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR).
• Capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact.
• Ability to travel as needed for customer reviews (0–25%).

Insight Global is seeking a Hardware and Circuit Board Design Lead for a top defense, aerospace, and advanced technology client in Rancho Bernardo, San Diego. This engineer will take a technical leadership role in the development of complex electrical architectures, Command and Data Handling systems, and mixed-signal/high-speed digital electronics. The position will support cutting-edge programs spanning satellites and space systems, high-energy lasers, aerospace and electro-optical sensors, space-based optical communications, advanced power systems, and other emerging defense technologies. The ideal candidate brings deep hands‑on hardware expertise and demonstrated experience leading sophisticated electrical designs from initial concept through technical reviews, integration, testing, and production.

Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor’s in Engineering/related technical discipline with 12+ years of progressive engineering experience, Master’s with 10+ years, or PhD with 7+ years
• Electrical system command and data-handling architecture and technical team leadership; high-speed digital circuit design; embedded processing and controls; analysis, design, and implementation of hardware systems to include digital, analog, and RF is required; guiding a design through development and into production; familiarity with DoD technical review process (at a minimum: SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR)
• Capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact.
• Ability to travel as needed for customer reviews. 0-25%

• High-reliability aerospace electronics and electrical systems; unmanned space‑systems and satellites, including micro‑satellites, cube‑satellites, or small‑satellites (>500 kg)
• Experience with Altium PCB Design Software, PADS PCB Design Software, SPICE circuit simulation tools, HyperLynx Signal/Power Integrity tools, ANSYS Signal Integrity tools, Atlassian Tools, Microsoft Project.
• Active Secret clearance
