Job summary

The Professional Group in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking a Hardscape Assistant to support our landscape construction team. The role involves installing patios, walkways, retaining walls, and other hardscape features outdoors, with emphasis on safety, quality workmanship, and teamwork.

Ideal candidates are physically capable, enjoy outdoor work, and are eager to develop a career in hardscape construction or related trades.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in landscaping, hardscaping, construction, masonry, or related field preferred but not required.
• Ability to read a tape measure and follow verbal/written instructions.
• Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the installation of patios, walkways, retaining walls, steps, fire pits, outdoor kitchens, and other hardscape features.
• Prepare job sites by clearing debris, excavating, grading, and establishing proper drainage.
• Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites.
• Assist with laying pavers, natural stone, brick, and concrete products according to project specifications.
• Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
• Support equipment operators with site preparation and material placement.
• Measure, level, and align materials to ensure quality installation and project accuracy.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Assist with equipment cleaning, maintenance, and storage at the end of each workday.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Crew Leader or Project Manager.
