Job summary

The State of Hawai'i Department of Transportation is seeking candidates for positions involving semi-skilled manual labor in maintenance of roads, buildings, structures and equipment. Duties include heavy physical labor and use of common hand tools, with responsibilities to follow oral and written instructions.

Qualifications

• One year of manual unskilled and semi-skilled work experience in general construction and/or maintenance; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Knowledge of: common hand tools and equipment used in manual unskilled and semi-skilled work in general construction and maintenance; safe work practices.
• Ability to: use common hand tools and equipment; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; perform heavy lifting and other manual work; possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled manual work involved in maintenance of roads, buildings, structures and equipment; may involve refuse collection and heavy physical labor.
• Follow oral and written instructions; work with safety procedures and use hand tools and equipment typical of the class.
