Responsibilities

• Prep Cook / Dish: Short for food preparation, food prep cooks/workers assist chefs and other kitchen staff by preparing the ingredients used to create all dishes entrees, sauces and side dishes.
• Washing and stacking dishes; Cleaning and cutting vegetables; Making sauces; Portioning foods for the line; Cleaning and maintaining prep area.
• A prep cook chops vegetables, herbs and other ingredients, trims and slices meats and stirs sauces and soups. They also portion and wrap food, assemble plates (such as salads) and clean utensils and kitchen surfaces.
• Additionally, they store foods in designated containers and storage areas. Participants will be standing for long periods of time in this job position.
• Sample language note: language level may be required for this position. Dishwasher duties historically include scraping, racking and stacking glassware/flatware/silverware, washing pots and dishes by hand or with equipment, restocking ware, and maintaining a clean workstation. Additional duties include removing garbage and recyclable materials and assisting in overall kitchen cleaning if required.

Pay and Housing

Pay Rate: $17.00 Per Hour

Average Hours per Week: 32

Housing Rate: $112 / Week / Person

Housing Details: Bike to/from work 30 minutes. Participants will have their own bed, and each unit has an indoor shared restroom and shower as well as indoor laundry facilities. No more than 6 participants per bathroom. Housing is a furnished 3 bedroom 2 bath mobile home with living/tv room, full kitchen and dining area.
