Qualifications

Job Description

The Food Service Worker position performs a variety of cleaning, maintenance, food preparation, stocking, and serving duties on a college campus. Candidate must be able to work open to close shifts.

This position will support the Land’s End Resort, a 117-room hotel, in Homer, AK.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve hot and cold food in a friendly manner.

• Provides a positive customer experience with fair, friendly, and courteous service.

• Assists customers as requested with general information, inquiries, etc.

• Obtains products requested by customers.

• Operates POS (Point of Sale) to record price, compile printed list, and display costs.

• May assist with inventory of items.

• Maintains a variety of products at certain levels in preparation, serving, or storage areas including service machines.

• Help with food service record keeping and reporting necessary data to manager.

• Keeps the retail area clean, stocked, and tidy at all times.

• Washes food service area objects by hand or with cleaning equipment.

• Cleans dishes, utensils, pots, pans etc. and places in assigned storage areas in an organized and orderly manner.

• Help keep dining room tables clean.

• Neat and clean personal appearance.

• Follows dress code according to department policies.

• Stocks various condiments and service ware.

• Cleans, sweep, mop and wipe down all general food service areas and equipment.

• May remove garbage from assigned areas, sets up, or breaks down tables, etc.

• Assists with various periodically scheduled large cleaning projects.

• May maintain a variety of products at certain levels in preparation, serving, or storage areas including service machines.

• May stock back storage areas with various products.

• Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success may also be assigned.

• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Preference will be given to the candidate with a minimum of two (2) years of consecutive employment in a similar operation with comparable responsibilities.

• Two (2) years of customer service experience.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoors: environmentally controlled; requires most or all work to be done inside.

Noise level: Moderate to loud.

Description of environment: This is a commercial kitchen in a hotel setting.

Physical requirements: Employee is required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
