Statement of the Job

The Handyperson is an essential member of the on-site maintenance team, ensuring a safe and well-maintained environment in buildings managed by POP Management, the housing arm of Catholic Charities Brooklyn & Queens.

Responsibilities include performing routine repairs, maintaining safety standards, participating in cleaning and sanitizing tasks, and collaborating with the superintendent, vendors, contractors, and tenants.

  • Work closely with the Superintendent to maintain the property.
  • Complete repairs and document them via Service Request Orders.
  • Monitor mechanical systems for proper operation.
  • Perform cleaning tasks following NYC sanitation guidelines.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED preferred; relevant experience may be considered.
  • FDNY Certificates of Fitness preferred; required within 6 months of hire.
  • Bilingual abilities (Spanish/English, Russian/English, Chinese/English, Korean/English) preferred.
  • Ability to travel within the five boroughs.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently.
