ABM Industries is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to perform general upkeep and repairs across office and commercial facilities. The role includes carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical work, and light fixture installation.

You will support senior technicians, assist with moves and reconfigurations, and help maintain a safe and clean workspace. Strong communication and reliability are essential for this position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Experience in general building or facilities maintenance preferred.
• Familiar with basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical and repair practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repair work throughout office and commercial facilities.
• Complete minor carpentry projects, including furniture assembly and cabinet repairs.
• Paint, patch, and repair walls, ceilings, sidewalks, and other surfaces.
• Troubleshoot and repair building equipment and appliances.
• Assist with furniture moves, office reconfigurations, and event setups.
• Support electrical, plumbing, and HVAC technicians with projects.
• Perform routine grounds maintenance and landscaping as needed.
• Report major repair needs to management.
• Maintain tools and work areas in a safe condition.
• Respond to urgent maintenance requests and emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repair work throughout office and commercial facilities.
• Complete minor carpentry projects, including furniture assembly, cabinet repairs, and fixture installation.
• Perform painting, patching, and cosmetic repairs to walls, ceilings, sidewalks, and other facility surfaces.
• Conduct basic repairs and troubleshooting of building equipment and appliances.
• Assist with furniture moves, office reconfigurations, and event setups.
• Support electrical, plumbing, and HVAC technicians with maintenance projects and repairs.
• Perform routine grounds maintenance and landscaping activities as needed.
• Identify maintenance concerns and report major repair needs to management.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
• Respond to urgent maintenance requests and facility emergencies.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Previous experience in general building maintenance, facilities maintenance, handyman services, or related field.
• Working knowledge of basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and facility repair practices.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Basic computer skills for work orders, communication, and reporting.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.

Preferred

• Experience maintaining commercial office buildings or corporate facilities.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices.
• Trades-related certifications or technical training.

• Must be comfortable working around occupied office spaces while maintaining professionalism and minimizing disruptions.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach for extended periods.
• Frequent use of hands for operating tools and equipment.
• Ability to regularly lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with assistance.
• Ability to safely navigate ladders, stairs, and elevated work areas as required.
• Sufficient hearing, vision, and mobility to perform maintenance and repair tasks safely.
