Phipps Houses is a NYC-based not-for-profit developer/owner providing affordable housing. We seek a skilled Maintenance/Handyman to perform general repairs across our residential buildings, handling plumbing, hardware, painting, and basic HVAC support to keep living spaces safe and comfortable.

The role emphasizes problem-solving, attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to work under pressure. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred; 2 years of handyman experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and upkeep of cooling towers and boilers, as well as assisting in repairs of heating and HVAC systems.
• Assist in snow removal on sidewalks and driveways.

Phipps Houses is one of the nation’s oldest and largest not-for-profit developer/owners of affordable housing. It is a multi-faceted real estateorganization, involved in the development, finance, construction and asset management of new and rehabilitated multi-family housing for low to middleincome New Yorkers. Through its subsidiary, Phipps Houses Services, Inc., it conducts residential and some commercial property management, and it’stax exempt affiliate, Phipps Neighborhoods, provides human services to its development communities.

Position Overview:
This position is primarily responsible for performing general maintenance tasks on a daily basis that include, but are not limited to the following duties.

• General plumbing repairs such as toilets, faucets, and minor leaks.

Required Experience:

2 years of prior handyman experience

Requirements:

If you do not hold a High School Diploma or GED, we considera substitution of a minimum of threeyears of experience in skilled trade work as a handyman at a residential building.
