Xona is seeking a hands-on Thermal Engineer to support thermal design and environmental verification of spacecraft. The role blends thermal analysis with direct ownership of test development and execution.

About 50% analysis and 50% testing in year one, shifting toward subsystem- and spacecraft-level ownership over time. You will model thermal behavior, lead TVAC and chamber campaigns, and work with mechanical, electrical, systems, and test teams to translate hardware designs into credible

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in thermal engineering, thermal analysis, environmental testing, or related hardware discipline.
• Strong understanding of heat transfer (conduction, convection, radiation, transient).
• Experience creating/reviewing thermal models for hardware or systems.
• Experience supporting hands-on hardware testing in lab or aerospace settings.
• Ability to develop clear engineering documentation (test procedures, reports, presentations).
• Excellent organizational skills and comfort with hardware.

Responsabilités

• Develop and maintain thermal models for components, assemblies, and spacecraft-level systems.
• Perform steady-state and transient thermal analyses to assess temperatures and margins.
• Collaborate with mechanical designers on interfaces, materials, insulation, and placement.
• Communicate analysis assumptions, risks, results, and recommendations to cross-functional teams.
• Develop model inputs from hardware configuration, materials, and test data.
• Correlate models with test results to improve fidelity and guide design.
