Job summary

The University of Mississippi Medical Center's Psychiatry research team is seeking a Research Assistant to support laboratory activities at the Main Campus Jackson. You will help with procedures, maintain equipment and supplies, and help ensure an organized research environment.

Education required: an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree. Preferred: science degree and lab experience; you will perform routine tasks, collect samples, record data, and assist with inventory and animal handling as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine laboratory tasks, including preparing solutions, reagents, and media.
• Assist with basic experimental procedures under supervision.
• Maintain and clean laboratory equipment, ensuring proper operation.
• Collect, label, and process biological samples according to standard protocols.
• Accurately record data in laboratory notebooks and digital systems.
• Assist in inventory management and ordering laboratory supplies.
• May assist in animal husbandry, collection of physiological data, and euthanasia.
