Job summary

Garlock Houston offers a one-year QHSE Co-op designed to integrate safety and quality practices in a metal gasket and rubber molding environment. The role provides exposure to AS9100, ISO 45001, and OSHA compliance with hands-on, shop-floor ownership of safety deliverables.

Mentorship from Plant Manager and QA/QC leadership will guide the development of OSHA procedures, risk assessments, and cross-functional collaboration across Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Leadership.

Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a degree in Safety, Engineering, EHS, or related field (final year or graduate)
• Strong interest in manufacturing safety, quality systems, and operational excellence
• Ability to write clear procedures and organize technical documentation
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Willingness to spend time on the manufacturing floor in PPE
• Strong communication skills and willingness to ask questions and learn

Responsibilities

• OSHA & Safety Program Development: assist in developing safety programs and procedures
• ISO 45001 Support: help document and structure ISO 45001 elements
• Integration with Quality (AS9100 & AS13100): align safety with quality systems and actions
• Training & Employee Engagement: assist with onboarding, toolbox talks, and safety meetings
• Audits, Metrics & Reporting: support internal audits and safety performance metrics
