Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a hands-on Principal AI Engineer to own the technical outcomes of a major AI value stream, working with business stakeholders to turn ambiguous problems into production-ready solutions.

The ideal candidate writes code daily in Python, React, AWS, Terraform, and GitHub Actions, has shipped AI agents or workflows, and mentors engineers while setting engineering standards for the team. This is not a management role; you will stay a technical contributor.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with 4+ years owning GenAI or applied-AI systems, including evaluation and human review loops.
• Hands-on production experience on AWS and with Python, React, GitHub Actions, and Terraform to set engineering bar for a pod.
• Experience leading technical delivery for a value stream without people management.
• Experience in regulated domains like insurance, healthcare, or similar preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical outcomes of a major AI value stream and partner with business stakeholders.
• Build production AI applications from concept through deployment.
• Mentor engineers while remaining a hands-on coder and setting engineering standards for the team.
• Collaborate directly with end users to drive practical, reliable AI solutions.
