Job summary

WSP USA is offering a full-time Power Distribution Design Engineering Intern position in Baton Rouge, LA. The internship targets students currently enrolled in Electrical Engineering programs, with a 12-week summer schedule starting May 17, 2027.

Interns collaborate with senior staff on medium-voltage distribution projects, gaining hands-on experience from initial design to construction. Typical duties include assisting with drawings, design calculations, cost estimates, and document management

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering undergraduate program with anticipated graduation August 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Electrical Engineering and desire to advance skills relevant to WSP's projects.
• Strong verbal/written communication and ability to present to engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Able to take direction and work with mentors and managers to execute projects.

Responsibilities

• Support a range of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Power Distribution Engineering.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analyses.
• Support preparation of final design plans, provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete assigned task training and participate in all project phases.
