Job summary

Specialty Systems, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support DoD systems at Joint Base MDL with a hands-on, cross-functional engineering role focused on investigation, documentation, and manufacturing support.

The candidate will work in a disciplined environment, coordinating with engineers, technicians, and quality personnel to ensure system performance and reliability, with a compressed 4/9+1 schedule and security clearance requirements.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Mechanical or related engineering discipline required.
• Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
• 1–2 years of substantive hands-on engineering experience in a manufacturing, production, sustainment, laboratory, or similar environment.
• 2–5+ years of directly relevant engineering experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct technical and engineering investigations involving mechanical hardware, manufacturing processes, discrepancies, failures, and other engineering issues.
• Apply creative engineering problem-solving techniques to non-routine technical problems and develop practical recommendations for resolution.
• Work with engineers, technicians, manufacturing personnel, quality personnel, and other stakeholders to investigate and resolve technical issues.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, work instructions, reports, and other technical documentation for accuracy and consistency.
• Develop and revise engineering reports, technical evaluations, procedures, investigation findings, recommendations, and other supporting technical documentation.
• Research and evaluate technical information to support engineering decisions and recommendations.
• Coordinate resolution of engineering issues that cross organizational and technical disciplines.
• Track technical issues, actions, and recommendations through resolution with documentation.
• Participate in technical meetings and communicate findings and recommendations clearly.
• Support the review and modification of engineering drawings when required.
