Job summary

PI (Physik Instrumente), LP in Shrewsbury, MA invites a self-motivated engineering student to join as an intern to design fixtures, model in SolidWorks, and assist with machining in a manufacturing setting.

You will collaborate with manufacturing engineers to gain hands-on experience in fixtures, metrology, and production, while learning to upload documentation to PLM systems. Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week with pay of $24–$26 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in a full-time academic program, majoring in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Design fixtures for assembly, metrology, and manufacturing.
• Model and create engineering drawings in SolidWorks.
• Machine fixtures and parts using milling machines, lathes, 3-D printers; modify existing fixtures.
• Troubleshoot and support assembly, metrology, R&D, and manufacturing issues.
• Optimize manufacturing/assembly processes and create build procedures.
