Job summary

Boston 25 (WFXT), the Cox Media Group FOX television station in Boston, is seeking an experienced Engineering & Operations Manager to lead our broadcast production, editing, and technical operations teams in a fast-paced newsroom environment.

This role combines hands-on engineering with strong operational and people leadership, reporting to the Director of Engineering and managing day-to-day performance, scheduling, and development of production and editing staff.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of FCC broadcast regulations and compliance requirements.
• Experience in broadcast engineering, newsroom operations and production workflows.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to lead in live broadcasts.
• Proven ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain calm under pressure.
• Hands-on engineering with strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
• Onsite essential role and ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in technical environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of broadcast production and editing teams.
• Provide supervision, scheduling, and administrative oversight for staff.
• Serve as hands-on operational leader for breaking news coverage.
• Train, onboard, coach, and mentor operators to meet standards.
• Foster a collaborative, accountable environment with strong communication.
• Ensure adequate staffing for live news and extended coverage.
