Job summary

Mykelly is seeking a Lab & Greenhouse Research Technician Contractor to support hands-on plant and soil materials handling, study setup, and greenhouse operations. This role emphasizes physical tasks, equipment cleaning, and sterile techniques in both lab and greenhouse settings.

The position involves moving plants, preparing inoculum, applying chemicals, and ensuring proper waste disposal under supervision. A background in biology or plant science and aseptic experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Background in Biology, Plant Pathology, Plant Science, or related science preferred.
• 1–2 years of lab, greenhouse, or plant-science experience may substitute for degree requirements.
• Aseptic techniques and sterile handling are essential.
• Knowledge of plant science and handling plant material is required.
• Must be comfortable with physically demanding tasks and moving materials.
• Experience with fungal culture handling is strongly preferred.
• Safety, PPE, waste disposal, and contamination-control procedures are familiar.

Responsibilities

• Handle and move plant and soil materials used in research studies.
• Set up plant studies by placing plants into trays/pots and labeling.
• Move materials on carts; support breakdowns and disposal activities.
• Work in greenhouse environments; cut flats and maintain organized spaces.
• Prepare media, solutions, tubes, and bottles per procedures.
• Inoculate, harvest, and support fungal culture projects.
• Maintain sterile conditions and operate basic lab equipment (autoclave).
• Safely apply fungicides and manage chemical logistics per protocols.
• Wear PPE (PAPR) and follow safety guidelines; manage waste labeling and storage.
• Keep benches and floors clean; assist with facility maintenance.
