Job summary

The Corning Museum of Glass invites applicants for the MYOG (Make Your Own Glass) Workshop Associate, an onsite full-time role in Corning, NY. You will guide guests through hands-on glassmaking experiences, helping them create unique keepsakes while ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.

Responsibilities include teaching, assisting with a range of glassmaking activities, and maintaining workshop operations.

Qualifications

Associate degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
Experience with glassblowing and/or flameworking, including safely operating related equipment.
Ability to work directly with beginner guests while maintaining a safe and enjoyable experience.
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint.

Responsibilities

Guide guests one‑on‑one through furnace glassblowing and/or flameworking projects.
Help guests create a variety of glass objects (ornaments, flowers, vessels, beads, pendants).
Support immersive experiences by coaching guests through stages of creating a blown glass vessel.
Lead or assist with sandblasting, engraving, fused glass and other projects as trained.
Teach and facilitate glassmaking activities across Studio programs.
Host Studio social and public events.
Process finished glass pieces from creation through annealing, labeling and shipment or pickup.
Maintain materials and equipment; ensure workshops are clean and efficient.
Open and close the MYOG Workshop; monitor inventory and workshop supplies.
Maintain safety standards in all activities.
