Job summary

Optimal EV seeks an E/E Electrical System and Harness Engineer in Elkhart, Indiana, to design, develop, and launch vehicle wiring harnesses and electrical systems for electric commercial vehicles. You will collaborate with Engineering, Production, body builders, suppliers, and Controls teams to ensure harnesses are practical, serviceable, and integrated into the vehicle.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical/Mechatronics/Automotive fields.
Experience with automotive wiring harness design or vehicle electrical systems.
Ability to read and create electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
Understanding of automotive connectors, wire sizing, fuses/relays, grounding and circuit protection.

Responsibilities

Create and maintain wiring diagrams, harness drawings, connector/pinout definitions, wire sizing and protection.
Design and develop vehicle low-voltage wiring harnesses and interfaces.
Troubleshoot electrical issues using schematics, CAN tools and diagnostics.
Coordinate with body builders, production teams, and suppliers to resolve routing and installation issues.
Support harness designs through prototype and production builds at the Elkhart facility.
Develop modular, reusable harness designs across configurations.
