Job summary

OSI Engineering is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to support a fast-paced research laboratory. You will manage chemical inventory, hazardous waste operations, inspections, and safety programs across a dynamic team of scientists and engineers.

The role emphasizes hands-on operations, ownership, and collaboration with regulatory partners to maintain compliance and safe lab environments. Contract-to-hire with a 12-month window offers long-term growth in a cutting-edge setting.

Qualifications

• HAZWOPER training required (40-hr initial + 8-hr refresher)
• 4+ years of relevant EHS experience
• Experience with chemical inventory systems
• Familiarity with TSDFs and hazardous materials handling

Responsibilities

• Manage receipt, tracking, labeling, storage and organization of laboratory chemicals and compressed gases
• Maintain accurate chemical inventory, SDS, hazard and storage records
• Support hazardous waste operations including collection, labeling, staging, and disposal coordination
• Maintain waste accumulation areas and ensure compliant handling of chemicals and waste
• Conduct routine laboratory safety inspections and assist with corrective actions
• Monitor safety equipment, PPE, spill kits, gas detectors and EHS supplies
• Assist with employee safety programs, onboarding, training and respirator programs
• Support internal and regulatory inspections with records and follow-up
• Assist environmental sampling, inventory reconciliation and lab cleanouts
• Maintain a safe, organized lab environment and address chemical handling/compliance concerns
