Job summary

Premier Nursing and Rehab Center of Far Rockaway seeks an experienced, hands-on Director of Maintenance / Environmental Services to oversee maintenance, safety, and operations of our 183-bed facility. We want a working director who leads by example, capable of managing the department, coordinating with regulatory teams, and performing repairs when needed.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Director of Maintenance or Director of Plant Operations in a skilled nursing facility or long-term care setting is REQUIRED.
• Strong working knowledge of NY DOH regulations, nursing home survey requirements, Life Safety Code standards, and required facility inspections is REQUIRED.
• Hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs capability.
• Understanding of building systems, preventative maintenance programs, and emergency preparedness.
• Experience supervising maintenance and environmental services staff.
• Ability to maintain regulatory documentation accurately.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily maintenance operations to keep the facility safe, clean, functional, and well maintained.
• Perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance as needed.
• Manage HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and general building systems; conduct routine rounds.
• Coordinate outside contractors, inspections, and facility improvement projects.
• Maintain DOH readiness and regulatory documentation; participate in inspections and address deficiencies.
