Job summary

Optimum Performance Institute Houston in Needville, TX is seeking a Direct Support Mentor (Residential Mentor) to guide young adults through experiential therapies and daily living skills on a full-time, on-site basis.

You will work with ages 18-28, providing compassionate support, crisis de-escalation, and collaborative care within a multidisciplinary team to promote mental wellness and personal growth in a structured environment.

Qualifications

• Age must be 21 years or older.
• Education: High school diploma or GED required; associates or bachelor’s in human services, psychology, criminal justice, or related field preferred.
• Skills: quick decision-making with a growth mindset and alignment to Embarks values.
• Experience: minimum 1 year with adolescent populations preferred.
• Certifications: CPR and First Aid certification preferred; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Build positive client relationships while maintaining professional boundaries and supporting daily activities.
• Apply treatment strategies and interventions to support client progress.
• Use de-escalation and crisis management to maintain a safe environment.
• Provide attachment-based, relationship-focused support for client growth.
• Help maintain a clean, safe campus and assist with chores and maintenance needs.
• Complete accurate and timely documentation of client interactions and interventions.
• Follow policies, uphold company values, communicate effectively, and maintain reliable attendance.
• Flexibility to work at both campuses, including Stafford campus when needed.
