Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in Greene County is seeking a Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee for the Department of Transportation. You will learn to maintain and repair equipment and participate in a structured training program.

Daily tasks include repair assistance, preventative maintenance, diagnostics training, inspections, safety practice, and record keeping. This full-time role runs 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with no telework.

Qualifications

• Two years as a Tradesman Helper (commonwealth title) in automotive field, or
• Graduation from a post-high school diesel technology curriculum of an accredited trade or technical school, or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Repair and overhaul vehicles and equipment while learning proper techniques.
• Participate in preventative maintenance and routine servicing of equipment.
• Learn to identify mechanical issues using tools and diagnostic procedures.
• Participate in safety and emissions inspections and complete related forms.
• Follow safety procedures, maintain a clean work area, and learn hazard prevention methods.
• Assist with maintaining accurate equipment records and reporting findings.
