Hands-On Design Engineer — CAD Prototyping & Testing

Job summary

Vermeer seeks a hands-on engineer to design, build, and test new construction and agricultural equipment. You will work in a team to research and develop solutions that support feeding people and infrastructure worldwide. Strong CAD skills and practical testing experience are essential.

You will analyze data, apply engineering principles, and use SolidWorks and ECN tools to deliver robust components. Occasional travel is expected, onsite at a Vermeer campus.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Agriculture or Electrical Engineering or equivalent education and experience.
• Ability to identify root cause of component failures.
• Knowledge in FEA, hydraulics, electronics, engine systems, statistics, strength of materials, durability and serviceability.
• Ability to create robust design and recognize design commonality.
• Ability to operate basic mechanical tools and power tools.
• Ability to manage time and resources to meet internal customers' needs.

Responsibilities

• Understand engineering principles to analyze data and develop CAD models to optimize design opportunities.
• Apply engineering principles to invent, design, document, build and test new solutions using CAD tools.
• Use SolidWorks, PDMWorks, ECN tools to produce prototype parts.
• Collaborate in a team environment to meet goals and metrics.
• Test design changes to improve machine performance and reliability.
• Build relationships to succeed on projects and grow in Vermeer engineering.
