Job summary

Owen-Ames-Kimball offers a Construction Management Intern program in Grand Rapids, MI. You will gain hands-on experience on active sites, supporting project managers, superintendents, and engineers while learning field coordination, scheduling, cost control, and safety compliance.

You’ll work with seasoned professionals across preconstruction through closeout, developing practical industry knowledge and professional skills in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, or enrolled in a co-op program.
• Strong interest in construction management and learning about the commercial construction industry.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Support Superintendents with daily jobsite coordination, field activities, and inspections.
• Participate in safety meetings, site walks, and quality control processes.
• Review drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
• Track subcontractor progress, performance, and milestones.
• Assist with RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other PM activities.
• Maintain organized project files and compliance documentation.
• Join project progress meetings and provide status updates.
• Assist with quantity takeoffs, subcontractor bid reviews, and budget tracking.
• Collaborate with teams to support preconstruction through closeout.
• Gain hands-on experience across all phases of commercial construction with experienced professionals.
