Job summary

laborup is seeking a Composites Manufacturing Engineer in Vonore, Tennessee to enhance and scale our composite fabrication processes on the production floor. You’ll lead process improvements, perform root-cause analysis, and introduce equipment and methods to raise productivity while reducing variation.

You’ll work across gel coating, vacuum infusion, resin transfer molding, open molding, tooling fabrication, adhesives, caulks, and silicones, translating learnings into robust manufacturing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Experience with multiple composite manufacturing processes including gel coating, vacuum infusion, resin transfer molding, open molding, and tooling fabrication.
• Hands-on on the manufacturing floor while collaborating with the composites team.
• Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing challenges and drive implementation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve composite manufacturing processes to optimize product flow and productivity.
• Perform root cause analysis, develop solutions, document changes, train personnel, and support implementation.
• Collect and analyze manufacturing data to understand performance and identify opportunities.
• Evaluate and implement new equipment, technologies, and methods in composite fabrication.
• Support prototype builds, new model development, and transition of products to production.
• Create and maintain layouts, material layouts, build documentation, drawings, and bills of materials.
• Capture accurate as-built information and maintain manufacturing documentation.
• Create, implement, and catalog Engineering Change Notices for composite fabrication.
• Develop and maintain composite manufacturing standards for adhesives, caulks, silicones.
• Collaborate with production and other functions to solve technical problems and improve performance.
